<div class="article-date"> Sep 04, 2026 <span style="margin: 0 8px; color: rgba(255,255,255,0.3);">|</span> <span style="color: rgba(255,255,255,0.4);">Hawadet Studio</span> </div> </div></div><div class="article-content-wrapper"><div class="blog-content">Repurposing educational content means turning the notes, PDFs and slides you already have into short videos, by distilling each page to its core idea, rewriting it as a script that is heard, and then deciding what deserves to be drawn. The scientific material stays the same; you change its form, not its content.

Most schools and platforms hold a wealth of content in files students do not read in full. This guide is for whoever wants to make use of what they have instead of writing a curriculum from zero. Building the lesson from its origin is covered in [instructional scriptwriting](/en/blogs/instructional-scriptwriting), and the wider frame for a whole curriculum in [digitising the curriculum](/en/blogs/digitizing-educational-curriculum).

<div style="background: #f8f9fa; border-left: 4px solid #7c3aed; padding: 25px; border-radius: 12px; margin: 35px 0; box-shadow: 0 4px 15px rgba(0,0,0,0.05); color: #1a202c;">### 📊 Why start from your existing content?

- <span style="font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.2;">✅</span> <span style="font-size: 1.1rem; line-height: 1.6; color: #4a5568;">**The material is documented:** The content is reviewed and approved; you change its form, not its content.</span>
- <span style="font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.2;">⏳</span> <span style="font-size: 1.1rem; line-height: 1.6; color: #4a5568;">**Saves preparation time:** Rewording what exists is quicker than writing a curriculum from zero.</span>
- <span style="font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.2;">📈</span> <span style="font-size: 1.1rem; line-height: 1.6; color: #4a5568;">**Wider reach:** The same idea in a short clip reaches students who never open the file.</span>
- <span style="font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.2;">🧪</span> <span style="font-size: 1.1rem; line-height: 1.6; color: #4a5568;">**A cheaper trial:** You try the style on one file before converting a library.</span>

</div>Why is a good file not a good script?
-------------------------------------

You cannot take two pages of notes and hand them straight to animation. Notes are written for careful reading with the option to go back, while a video is watched once at a fixed pace. A literal conversion produces a dull, crowded video. Real repurposing is distilling: pulling out the core ideas and cutting the padding.

<div class="blog-table-wrap"><table class="table table-bordered"><thead><tr><th>Type of file</th><th>What works from it</th><th>What needs rework</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>A teacher's notes</td><td>The sequence of ideas and tried examples</td><td>Long academic sentences and margin notes</td></tr><tr><td>A slide deck</td><td>The idea headings and ready pictures</td><td>Crowded text on slides, since a video is not read</td></tr><tr><td>A book chapter</td><td>Definitions and examples</td><td>The book's order, since a video needs the order of understanding</td></tr><tr><td>A scientific article</td><td>The central idea</td><td>Dense terminology and citations</td></tr><tr><td>A worksheet and questions</td><td>Assessment questions after a clip</td><td>Complicated wording</td></tr></tbody></table>

</div>Steps to turn a file into a video
---------------------------------

1. **Distil:** from each page take one idea or two only. Long notes become several short clips, not one huge video.
2. **Rewrite the script:** turn academic sentences into simple speech that can be heard. Open each clip with a question or situation, then give the idea, then close with a summary.
3. **Set the length by reading:** read the script aloud at a calm pace and time it; if it passes the target length, cut rather than speed up the reading.
4. **Decide what is drawn:** not every sentence needs a drawing. Identify what is hard to picture (a process, a relation, a structure) and concentrate the drawing there, giving the rest as simple animated text and voice.
5. **Produce within a unified library:** if you will convert several files, build shared assets (a character, templates, backgrounds) so the videos look like one family and each costs less.
6. **Check the facts and try it out:** the subject expert reviews each clip, then it is shown to students to learn where they drift.

How do you decide what is drawn and what animated text is enough for?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

- **Drawn:** what the eye cannot see, what changes over time, and what is explained by a story and a character.
- **Animated text or a diagram is enough for:** short definitions, lists and simple comparisons.
- **Does not need a video:** long reference tables, which stay as a file to refer back to.

To tell what you make yourself from what you contract, read [free versus professional](/en/blogs/free-vs-professional-should-make-educational), and for free tools [free animation software for teachers](/en/blogs/free-animation-software-for-teachers).

Questions to ask before you convert any file
--------------------------------------------

- Is the content still correct and in line with the current curriculum?
- What is the one idea on each page, and can it be said in a sentence?
- What is hard for the student to grasp on paper and easy with a picture?
- Do we have the rights to use the images and drawings in the file?
- Who checks scientific accuracy before release, and how much time do they need?
- Where will the video be shown, and what formats and dimensions are needed?
- How will we know the video helped, and what short questions follow it?

How do you organise the video library after conversion?
-------------------------------------------------------

- Name each clip for the single idea it treats.
- Link each clip to the original page or chapter it was distilled from.
- Keep each clip's script with the expert's review notes.
- Record the date of the last scientific review of each clip so you can update it when the curriculum changes.
- Group successive clips into a playlist in the order of understanding, not the book's order.

Common mistakes in repurposing
------------------------------

- **Converting the page as it is:** so a crowded video results. Distil first.
- **One long clip for a whole set of notes:** students leave it. Split it into clips with one idea each.
- **Copying the slide text onto the screen:** so the student is torn between reading and listening. Let the voice explain and the picture show.
- **Converting old content that was never reviewed:** so a fact that time has overtaken is published. Check accuracy first.
- **Producing each video in a different style:** so the unified identity is lost.
- **Neglecting sound:** which costs the clip a large part of its quality whatever the picture.

Suppose a platform has multi-page notes on the cell. It distils each page to its idea, ending with short clips: what a cell is, its parts, the function of each part. It then rewrites each clip as a script that opens with a question, draws the parts nobody can see, and uses animated text for the definitions. This is a hypothetical example to show the method, not something that happened.

How we handle your material
---------------------------

Hawadet Studio is an early-stage Arabic animation studio. We treat your ready scientific material as a skeleton and recast it visually into a script, and the scientific review stays the responsibility of your subject expert. Our path is successive stages: a script, then a character bible, then storyboards, then an animatic, then hand-drawn animation, human voices and editing, with staged reviews.

We learned that a careful foundation, from writing to reviewing the plot and the facts, is what saves effort in every later stage however long it takes; so we give the distilling and writing stage its time before any drawing starts. Our original work is on the [projects page](/en/projects).

Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

### Do you write the script or do we?

Either. It is best if your team writes the scientific draft to ensure accuracy and the studio turns it into a visual script, or the studio writes and your expert reviews before production.

### What kinds of files suit repurposing?

Any organised content: notes, slide decks, book chapters and scientific articles. What matters is that the content is approved and needs no fresh fact-checking.

### How many videos do we get from one set of notes?

It depends on the density of the content. A practical rule: each main concept deserves its own short clip, not one long video that is hard to digest.
